Hop off the shuttle at the Pavilions stop, grab a coffee from Caffè Luxxe (maybe a cookie too), and take a 10-minute stroll to Butterfly Beach. More secluded than East Beach, Butterfly is the perfect spot for a picnic or a game of cards with friends. Students have even been spotted on the ledge making pancakes on portable griddles.

Head north, and you’ll find state parks like Refugio State Beach and El Capitan State Beach, where students often camp, hammock, hike, and spend weekends by the ocean.
